Euro Round Dessel Report

We left on friday morning about 0530 to get to the tunnel on time the traffic was really good my dad said it was the best journey he had done in europe .
We got to the track in plenty of time for practise i normally only get 2 laps on race day !!!
I really liked the track it was fast and smooth i did loads of laps and then went to bed in our tent .
There was about 6o riders in my age 9/10 boys so we had quarters,
I won all my motos got a 2nd in my quarter and in the semi i was 3rd to the last turn but i made a mistake going for 2nd and the other riders caught me up and we all banged into each other and i fell off GUTTED i was only a few metres from making the final .
I went to my dad i was upsett but he said dont worry you are fast enough you can do it tomorow.
It was really hot so me and my mate sam had water fights on the camp site while my dad watched the elite racing.
Sundays Race
I had the big Latvian kid in my motos hes huge nearly as big as my dad LOL i had three 2nds behind him he was a lot faster than me down the first two straights but i hit the rythm on the last two straights and nearly passed him so i was pleased.
Quarter final i got a 3rd
semi final i was in 3rd again and there was no way i was getting this wrong i just hung in there to make the main BRILLIANT
Final time i end up in gate 8 which is not the best and finish in 6 th so not too bad
Overall i finished 6th in points on Sat and 5th in points on Sun so pretty good against the older kids.
I think we have some spare time now for training on my clips for the worlds so ill keep you posted

Race Updates

We have had a few races in the UK the first was a SW regional at Burnham in preperation for the National my dad put me up in the 11s which was good as there were a lot of fast kids like my mates Aaron and Eddie i did really well my gates still suck but i won motos and had a 2nd during the day so i felt fast but the finals were running really late and we were 3 hrs from home and it was after 5pm and we were still waiting, so my dad said we will have to go we caint wait any longer so no final for me!!!but well done to Eddie for winning.
The National at Burnham wasnt too bad i won my motos easily and in my semi i hit the gate and was last to the first turn and by the 2nd turn i was in 2nd behind ethan so not too bad .
I was top of the rider list all day so i felt good ,come final time i got stuck ina crash on the first jump and finished 4th so i wasnt too happy nor was my dad!!!
I just hate racing in England .

1st and 2nd Round of European Champs at Zwolle 4/4/09
This weekend was the first round of the series i have never been able to race these yet as you have to be 9 years old to race in the 9/10 boys class .
I was a little bit nervous as i would be the youngest ,we set off on friday at 0500 and still managed to miss practise on friday night cause of those stupid traffic jams !!!
The track looked ok so i cant wait to practise tomorow .
Sat Race day because there were loads of riders i only managed to get 2 laps practise but i felt good.
At the moment i am testing a new Haro with the chance to ride for Haro in the UK (thanks Adam/Ryan/Lauren)i really like the frame it feels good to jump and manual which im learning to do .
There was about 6o riders in my group so it was going to be tough because i was having to race an age up. In my motos i had my good friend Tino Popma on his new gunslinger ride (it looks like my old bike so much i nearly got it out the pens to race lol).
My motos went well with 3-1-1 so i felt good next round was quarters no mistakes now ,i got a decent start but somebody fell on me and i was down in 7th at the first turn a hit the turbos and got back to 3rd .Semi time it was stacked again i got out ok and was 3rd till the last straight and bobbled and got 5th gutted .well done to Tino who made the main on sat but crashed on the first jump .(the youngest in the final )!!!
Sundays race Day
My dad hade made a few changes to my bike but you get no practise on sunday so here come the motos ,i couldnt believe it i had Tino again but i rode well and the bike felt faster today so i was up for it. My motos were good with a 1-1-8 (i went over the bars on the gate dont ask)
Quarters now this was stacked i had 4 riders from saturdays final my dad told me he couldnt watch !!! so he said just go and have a go and dont back off!!
I was flying and ended up 3rd so thru to semis again ,this was going to be mine i had missed it by one place yesterday i just went for it big time jumped the little doubles at the bottom of the hill and finished 3rd i was in the main!!!!bad news for Tino he was in my semi and got 5th or 6th not sure but he said he would be shouting for me in the main.
In the pens my dad just said go and have fun and dont come last as it will on the internet later and my mom would see it !!
Martijn Scherpen came over and gave me some top secret tips and just told me to pedal as fast as i could ,
Main time
I didnt get the perfect gate but i just span as fast as i could and got back to the front by the first turn i went high in the turn and dropped back in with so much speed i was in 3rd i just kept on the gas and got a solid 3rd at the line fantastic my dad was going mad and came running over to give me a hug i couldnt believe i just got 3rd against all the older boys.
I made my dad miss the ferry so i could stand on the podium lol

But thanks to adam at Haro for my ride and Martijn for the secret tips and well done on winning the Elite main i was shouting for you .
I just hope i can keep my Haro for a bit longer as we are not planning on racing the Uk nationals this year due to me wanting to race over in Europe and the worlds in Australia i want a W plate back .

Still Quiet On The Race Front
I have only raced a couple of times since Belgium as the weather has been bad ,a north regional at coppull and a midlands regional at harworth which i won both .
I will put a few pics up as my mate Tylers dad was taking plenty of pics at harworth.
My dad is starting to step my training up for the euro rounds and hopefully Australia .
The first round is in Zwolle in a few weeks where i will get to see my friend Tino again he is riding a gunslinger now and really likes it.
I have have been testing a new Haro frame as i have been offered a place on a new Haro UK team .
I didnt really want to change from my gunslinger but my dad said i was getting a bit big for it ,
anyway after a few goes on it i really like it feels totally different from my gunslinger so i will get a few races on it to make sure im happy with it .
I will get some pics up asap and you can let me know what you think !!!!

At the end of Jan my dad took me back to Belgium to defend my title as i won both days last year.

This time loads of riders from the UK went with at least 8 from my own age group it felt like an english national .

The track was different a lot smaller and very very soft i travelled with my friends from my track Cam and Owen we had loads of fun on the ferry .

After a long day travelling we practised on friday night i felt ok but not very fast but my dad told me what and where to pedal and after an argument as i dont like like listening to my dad !!!! i tried again after i had my special power food (((chicken nugs from Maccy Ds )))) and felt a lot better and looked ok said my dad.

Saturday racing

The entry lists were posted and just under 5o boys in my age so a good turnout .

I won all my races upto the semis when i went into the first turn with my friend Tino and ended up on the floor so no final for me i was gutted .The races were running so late it was straight to bed my dad didnt even stay to watch the finals .

Sunday Racing
After a few changes to my bike by my dad (he said i would be faster today )i started my motos and won them by a good way i was flying today i felt like i could win, my first straight was topps !!! i just pedalled everything.

Quarters again i just nailed it and got a flying gate and won .

Semis i had drawn with Euan a fast UK rider who has been winning a lot in the UK ,so i was a bit nervous my dad just said there was nobody faster than me down the first straight so just do what ive been doing all day and ill be fine ,riders ready watch the !!!!i was out and gone i won it by the length of the last straight ,,,,this final was mine !!!

It was going to be between my friend Tino and me ((harry tinos dad said it would be a good race between us )).

Final Time

I had first pick Tino 2nd pick so i picked 8 which was on the inside and Tino in 7 so i knew i had to get out quick,so guess what happened next i got out the gate and came off both my pedals AAAARRRGGGHHH i couldnt believe it the just rode off and i just rolled round crying i knew my chance was gone all day i won everything and then in the final off both pedals like that UNBELIEVABLE at least my mate Tino took the victory and well done to my mate Dan from the UK who made his first European final and came 4th to boot well done Dan !!!!

A big thanks to Martijn Scherpen who came up and gave me a cuddle and said he felt sorry for me in the final as he said i had looked really fast every race and said i would win next time .

Good luck in America Martijn wish i was racing in America again (i will have to get Mom and Dad to take me again)

So thats it really no more races till April when i will be competing in the Euro Rounds that will be tough as i am the youngest age but im determined to make a semi this year which would be really good over there.

A few new sponsorships are dealing with my dad so im not sure what bike i will be riding so for now ill stay on my Gunslinger which is a top ride,

got some time off now for a couple of weeks cant even train that much as its snowing really bad in the UK .

I must say hi to Rene and his 2 girls from my dad they both made finals and both are W2 and W3 ranked from China (i want one of those W plates again they look well cool).

Sorry for no Updates
Not much to report on really i have raced a few regionals up in Manchester and Coppull the past few months ,still been training but there are no decent races to do.
Except for last weekend my dad took me to a big Euro race in St Etienne France with over 2000 riders !!!!
We flew out with my friend Cameron and his dad Tony when we landed we drove to the hotel it wasnt too far from the airport but as we got closer the snow got deeper and deeper it was unbelievable .
On the Thursday i was off school bad my throat hurt and i had a really bad cough so my dad wouldnt let me play in the snow .
On the Sat was practise day i woke up and felt really ill my voice was going (which my dad was pleased )
I did a few laps and liked the track and it wasnt too long which was good as i didnt feel very good.
I had to race in the 9/10s class there was 90 riders and some were huge (im only 8 not 9 till middle next year)my dad never told me i had to race the older age.
Any way my motos went well i won every one my dad was really pleased as i was so ill ,he even got me a new hat.
Sunday was the start of the qualifiers as expected i woke up even worse than Saturday so my dad said dont worry just go and have fun and dont worry.
In the pens my riders were huge i wish i was in a different race any way my dad said just because they are big doesnt make them fast ,i got on the gate and had first pick due to my wins on sat and picked gate 4 ,i got a mint gate and couldnt believe it got into the first turn in 2nd 3rd and was flying but for some reason got the turn totally wrong and came out 7th i got back to 5th but the 4 in front were the 4 biggest riders and one even went on to win the main so i was quite happy.
At least im not scared to race the older boys and when im fit and done some more training i think i will give them a good race .

Im off now to play with all my new toys !!!!!!
